The University of Padua’s Commitment to Environmental Sustainability
The University of Padua makes its institutional commitment to support the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainability a priority.
The Charter of Sustainability Commitments (2023-2027) dictates the plan of action and objectives for environmental and social sustainability as expressed within the UniPadova Sostenibile Project.
As a catalyst for an initiative aimed at sustainability, the UniPadova Sostenibile Project reaches a global perspective that is attentive to the declining factors that affect the environment and the well-being of people.
On an environmental front, the University is committed to developing and implementing strategic programs to reduce consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, and in a broader sense, to reduce the impact on the environment and ecosystems.
The UNIPD Store Commitment
As the official vendor of University merchandise, UNIPD Store aligns itself with the general commitments held by the University of Padua.
By carefully evaluating suppliers, the UNIPD Store selects products based on standards of reliability and transparency that reflect its commitment to the environment.

Materials
By promoting a more sustainable way of living, the UNIPD Store offers several eco-friendly products made with recycled materials.
Including the Tucano R-PET collection, a line that converts plastic bottles into eco-friendly products. Their iconic laptop sleeve keeps up 3.5 bottles out of the landfill and our selection of backpacks featuring the UniPD insignia ensures that 14 bottles are fully recycled!
Made from cast-off banners, Malefatte Venezia accessories and bags are eco-friendly, one-of-a-kind products. The entire line is a result of the Recycled PVC Lab of the Social Cooperative Rio Terà dei Pensieri in Venice, which takes prisoners from the Santa Maria Maggiore Men’s Prison and offers them training and professional rehabilitation.
The exclusive UniPD line of travel cups and lids from Quy Cups are made from R-PET recycled food-grade plastic.
With products like these, we not only reduce our environmental impact, we promote a circular economy by actively supporting the recycling chain that enhances existing resources.
Packaging:
We are well aware of the enormous environmental impact packaging has, which is why we are committed to doing our part to minimize waste. When shipping products ordered online, we make every effort to reuse available materials instead of new ones by sending orders in previously used boxes and packaging whenever possible.
Supplies used to ship online orders are marked with the FSC-certified paper label, which ensures that up to 60% of it derives from reused materials.
Paper:
All our notebooks are FSC certified. This environmental certification ensures that the paper comes from responsibly managed forests. By purchasing FSC products, we contribute to the protection of forests and the conservation of biodiversity.
Textiles:
The UniPD Store does its part by selecting products that are certified or made with certified materials. Including cotton-based merchandise carrying the OEKO-TEX label, which guarantees that the fabric is free from substances harmful to human health and the environment.
Such products include the iconic canvas tote bag marked with the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). Defining the international standard for the sustainable production of organic textiles, products marked with the GOTS logo are harvested from natural fibers derived from organic farming that ensure no chemical pesticides or genetically modified organisms, thus adhering to the principles of organic agriculture.
Grown without harmful chemicals, the organic cotton used in many of our t-shirts, sweatshirts, and tote bags also minimizes water consumption, thus reducing the environmental impact during cultivation.
