‘Raccontami di lei” (Tell Me About Her) outlines the stories of just some of the females who have called the city of Padua home, a place where one of the oldest universities in the world has been since 1222. Those who turn the pages will find one who defended her thoughts before the Inquisition, another with the tenacity of a thinker who founded a party but will also read about a young woman who obtained the first doctorate degree in the seventeenth century. You will meet those from the nineteenth century, who worked in the editorial offices and affirmed their beliefs. You’ll be introduced to those who fought for their homeland and supported the soldiers during times of war. Camilla Greghetti Erculiani, Anna Kuliscioff, Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia, Carmela Baricelli, Gualberta Alaide Beccari are just some of the names on which the volume focuses, which, according to Antonia Arslan, makes a fascinating kaleidoscope of lives lived within a vigorous and affirmative momentum, each one following their own star. The book covers from the fifteenth to the twentieth century.
